Town Haul

Jeffersonville, (population 500), is a small, rural town located in the rolling hills of Sullivan County, New York. Nestled in the Catskills, it is known for its peaceful summer days, picture-perfect fall foliage and crisp winters. Industries such as farming, timber, hide tanning, cheese making and soda bottling once thrived in Jeffersonville, but that is no longer the case. The town was settled by the Swiss and Germans in the 1800s, and many of the original Victorian structures still stand today. However, many have since been covered in more new-age materials like aluminum siding, hiding their histories.

The original Woodstock Music Festival of 1969 put Jeffersonville on the map. With the festival just 10 miles outside town, thousands of attendees flooded the town. Some, in fact, never left, contributing to a unique sense of community togetherness and pride. Anything and everything that happens in Jeffersonville happens on Main Street. Michaelangelo's Pizzeria, Ted's Restaurant, the town pharmacy, Stella's, Global Home (furnishings), Peck's Market grocery store and the Blue Victorian antique store are just a few of the businesses that dot the landscape. Kelly's Kones and Amazing Bargains reside just off the edge of Main Street.

In Town Haul's first season, host Genevieve Gorder and her team, including general contractor Ray Romano, landscape architect William Moss and carpenter Jimmy Little re-envision the most recognizable parts of Jeffersonville, including:

Main Street — The center of the town and the heart of Jeffersonville, Main Street is idyllic. Still, the town's character is hidden in concrete and a few stark business facades. Landscape architect William Moss has his work cut out for him here, with a need to add more life to the street to match its spirit.

Amazing Bargains — In a site that used to be a bowling alley years ago, shoppers can still see remnants of the lanes that once were. Often cited as an eyesore alongside Jeffersonville's Main Street, this bargain store will undergo a substantial transformation to replace its rotted wood exterior.

Kelly's Kones — Frequent social hub and a recent addition to Main Street, Kelly's Kones is more rum raisin than cookies n' creme. By adding a deck where customers can enjoy their ice cream and socialize, and by equipping the store with a new ice cream machine, the Town Haul team ensures that Kelly's Kones takes its rightful place as one of Jeffersonville's prime delights.

Village Hall — A gathering place for business official (city council meetings) and unofficial, Village Hall's design doesn't reflect its dual personality. Its dark wood paneling feels antiquated and its outdoor facade belies its importance to the town.

Cowboy Bob's Apartment — Conceivably the biggest project for the Town Haul team, and the most meaningful for residents, is the construction of a permanent residence for town icon, "Cowboy Bob." General contractor Ray Romano plans to convert an existing apartment in town into a dwelling fit for a king.

Through these projects and others, the town of Jeffersonville will transform right before viewers' eyes in each episode of Town Haul.
